1 How can I purchase a WISH Gift Card?

WISH Gift Cards and Store Gift Cards can be purchased online at www.wishgiftcard.co.nz or from your local participating store.

 

Groceries Only Cards can only be purchased online at www.wishgiftcard.co.nz

 

When purchasing in store, each card can be loaded once only with set values of $20, $30, $50 or $100 per card. 

 

When purchasing online, each card can be loaded once only with any value from $10 to $500 per card.

 

When purchasing in store, payment can be made via cash, EFTPOS or Credit Card. When making a purchase by completing the order form on our website, payment can be made using a credit card or via EFT Direct Deposit.

 

For orders placed with the form located on our website, payment is required prior to cards being dispatched. Activation of cards may be delayed by up to 24 hours following delivery.

 

When purchasing in-store, Gift Cards are activated at time of purchase. If for any reason your card has not been activated, please return to store of purchase with your receipt.

2 Do Gift Cards expire?

WISH Gift Cards, Groceries Only Cards and Store Gift Cards expire 12 months from their date of issue.

Expired cards cannot be reactivated or have their funds redeemed.

3 What is the difference between the different card types?

WISH Gift Cards and Store Gift Cards are redeemable across all participating stores and are also redeemable online at www.nzwinesociety.co.nz

 

Groceries Only Cards are only redeemable at your local Countdown Supermarket and cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco products or WISH Gift Cards. Groceries Only Cards cannot be redeemed online.

4 Where can I use my Gift Card? What are the participating stores?

WISH Gift Cards can be redeemed in any Countdown Supermarket or Dick Smith store across New Zealand and online / phone orders at New Zealand Wine Society.

 

Groceries Only Cards are redeemable at Countdown Supermarkets only and cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco products, Gift Cards or Christmas club vouchers.

 

5 Can I use a WISH Gift Card purchased in Australia at a New Zealand participating store?

No, WISH Gift Cards purchased in Australia (starting with card number 628000) cannot be used in New Zealand Stores.

6 Can I use a WISH Gift Card purchased in New Zealand in an Australian store?

No, WISH Gift Cards purchased in New Zealand (starting with card number 629924) cannot be used in Australian stores.

7 Can I redeem Gift Cards online?

WISH Gift Cards and Store Gift Cards can be used to make purchases at the following online stores:

Groceries Only Cards cannot be redeemed online.

 

WISH Gift Cards are currently not redeemable for online shopping at Countdown.co.nz or dicksmith.co.nz but we hope to have this feature available in the near future.

8 How do I check my Gift Cards available balance, transaction history or expiry date?

You can also check via telephone by calling 0800 40 40 40 or at any Countdown Supermarket, simply ask a staff member to assist you.

9 How do I use my Gift Card?

When making a purchase at a participating store, simply present your Gift Card to the service assistant for payment towards your chosen goods.

 

When prompted, select the ‘Savings’ account and enter your Gift Card PIN into the EFTPOS terminal. Your purchase amount will be deducted from your Gift Card's available balance.

 

If your purchase total exceeds the available balance of your Gift Card, you are required to then pay the difference by another accepted tender.

10 What is my Gift Cards PIN?

Your Gift Card PIN is a 4 digit access code printed on the rear of your Gift Card (initially located under a scratch panel). You are required to enter this PIN when making a purchase in a participating store or checking your Gift Cards balance.

 

Take care when initially scratching the panel to reveal the PIN. If your PIN happens to become un-readable, click here to contact us and obtain the PIN.

11 What items or services can not be purchased with my Gift Card?

WISH Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase Countdown Christmas Club vouchers or NZ Lottery products.

 

Groceries Only Cards cannot be used to purchase alcohol, tobacco products, WISH Gift Cards, Countdown Christmas Club vouchers or NZ Lottery products.

 

Gift Cards are non-refundable after activation. Gift Cards cannot be exchanged for cash. Cash cannot be withdrawn from the available balance of a Gift Card.

12 What do I do when my card does not read when swiped through the EFTPOS terminal?

If, when swiping your card through the EFTPOS terminal the terminal does not respond, or you see the message 'Bad Read' it may mean that the magnetic stripe on the rear of your Gift Card has become damaged.

 

For WISH Gift Cards and Store Gift Cards, visit the customer service desk within a Countdown Supermarket and speak with a service supervisor who will be able to transfer the balance onto a new card for you.

 

For Groceries Only Cards, click here to contact our Gift Card support team who can post you a replacement card via mail.

13 Can I add additional value to my Gift Card?

No. Our Gift Cards are single load only and cannot be topped up or have value added to them following their initial load.

14 What do I do if my Gift Card is lost or stolen? Or I believe there is a mistake with the balance of my Gift Card?

If your Gift Card is lost or stolen, click here to contact our Support Team who will investigate the matter for you.

 

Any information such as full card number, or purchase / redemption information will assist our team in their attempts to identify the card and where possible, issue a replacement card with the remaining funds.

 

Please note Progressive Enterprises Limited is not responsible for any value redeemed from a Gift Card if the card has been lost or stolen.
